We tend to get stuck in the same routine as a matter of habit and familiarity.

I am especially guilty of this…

  • Monday = run
  • Tues = ride
  • Wed = ride + run
  • Thurs = ride
  • Fri = ride + strength
  • Sat = ride + run
  • Sunday = ride
This is my set routine that I’ve been following for the past few years. I’ll throw in the odd 3 month block of swimming and pilates, but essentially I am doing the same thing all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I love the training and all that comes along with it – comaraderie, social aspect, time with friends, fitness and strength gains, competition, sense of achievement and fulfillment, positive role model for my kids… and the list goes on.
However, from time to time it’s good to mix things up a bit and try something new and different.
Vicky and I went to a fairly new gym/studio on Commercial Road, Prahran called Acumotum (check out their website – click here).
It’s Body-Brain Training, and you’ll need to do it to get a sense of what that is.
Needless to say, Vicky and I had a very solid 45min workout which was fun and challenging. Our trainer, Nathan Quinn, ensured that we worked to our desired level of intensity whilst at the same time ensuring that all our movements were performed accurately.
We enjoyed it so much that we’ve each purchased 10 sessions to go back for more weekly fun and brain-body training.
