On returning from my training session this afternoon I was so completely stuffed that in my desperation to get some food in, I burnt my tongue! Ouch! I do however suspect that the annoying burnt tongue feel in my mouth will dissappear long before I’m able to raise my arms above my head again… This is all complements to a session that involved, amongst a range of interval runs and strength exercises, push-ups to failure on three occasions! I love push-ups. I’m even willing to challenge most guys in a push-up competition, but anything to failure just hurts and I’m still hurting.

For this reason and in response to Joseph’s last post i.e. Two Bays Trail run, I therefore set the challenge of ‘Hill Repeats’ for tomorrow. I’ll be heading to the Tan after dropping the kids off at school and kinder and Anderson St hill is the perfect place for this. For those of you who are not familiar with this hills, well it’s about 500m from bottom to top and is pretty steep and unfriendly. If you can’t get out to the tan find something that sort of mimics that description and then do the following:

A good jog to warm-up: ~3km (3/4 lap of tan)

2 x Hill repeats attempting to maintain a consistent pace from bottom to top

1 x Hill repeat building your speed every 100m, so that the last 100m is flat out

Jog slowly down between reps

Then an easy jog, getting the heart rate down – 3km (again 3/4 lap of tan)

Then, a second set of hill repeats the same as the first

Finish off with an easy 1km jog/walk to cool down

So thats 6 x hill repeats in total.

Jojo, I suspect that you are running Toorak hills with the boys tomorrow morning, this might call for a few repeats of the beloved Glen Rd… lucky you hey 🙂
